What is EMS

What is EMS and how does it work?

EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) is a full-body workout with the help of external electronic impulses. During a conventional workout, your muscles contract using electrical impulses (bioelectronics); with EMS this effect is intensified and you can achieve greater results in a shorter period of time.

Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) uses low-frequency pulses of electric current to activate the skeletal muscles.

More than 90% of your muscles will be engaged during one 20-minute session. (In order to reach this level of engagement, you would have to spend hours in the gym doing a high-intensity workout.

EMS is scientifically proven and is perfect for all fitness levels. No matter if you are a beginner or a professional athlete, you will benefit from this training which increases your performance quickly helping you to reach your fitness goal.

EMS is the secret of celebrities and the ideal way to get you in shape, losing stubborn body fat or reducing back pain.

Build muscles and increase strength

Losing physical strength is not only about aging, it is also due to the sedentary lifestyles we lead, be it working overtime in front of a computer or with spending time in meetings. If you are looking to build muscle and increase strength, you usually have to spend a lot of your precious time in the gym.

With EMS, you only need 20 minutes of training per week to get in shape and to reach your fitness goals. In addition, EMS reduces the risk of injury in comparison to conventional workouts where incorrect techniques, particularly with heavy weights, can lead to injury.

According to studies, EMS can increase maximum strength by 8-9% after completing just 4 EMS training sessions. Maximum dynamic strength can be increased by an average of 17%. With 6 weeks of EMS training, static and dynamic strength endurance improves significantly.

Increase endurance and speed

We offer specific EMS Programs focusing on endurance and speed offering you greater advantages throughout your training regime. Well-known athletes use EMS with certain movement patterns to improve performance.

Studies have shown that endurance performance improved by 71% and perceived general performance increased by 84% with EMS Training.

Effective endurance training aims to increase the density of mitochondria and the number of capillaries; therefore, blood circulation and oxygen supply increase. EMS Programs focus on low electric frequencies with short individual pulses that switch between tension and relaxation. This boosts circulation to the muscles and surrounding tissue, builds new capillaries and results in a better supply of nutrients to the muscles. You will build lean muscle mass while burning fat at the same time!

Support weight loss

Our promise to you: we don’t promise what we can’t fulfill!

When only exercising 20 minutes per week, you cannot lose excess bodyfat without also sticking to a certain diet. EMS combined with a burger or pizza everyday doesn‘t work. EMS Fitness Factory offers you the best consultancy service to achieve your goals, no matter if you are looking to lose weight and/or body fat or if you just want to feel better and change or stick to a healthy lifestyle.

The more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolic rate meaning you burn more calories. Therefore, maintaining and increasing muscle mass is the main factor behind reducing body fat. EMS Training stimulates more than 90% of your muscles at the same time, boosting your metabolism and helping you lose body fat more easily.

Studies prove that excess body fat was lost, especially at the waist and hips, while muscles were built in the legs, upper arm and chest simultaneously. Additional effects are reduction of cellulite, improved blood circulation, tightened connective tissue and tight skin. Together with a well-balanced diet, you will reach your goal in no time.

Therapy and Rehabilitation

Do you work in front of a computer and suffer from back pain?

This is the most common problem in today’s world and can be reduced, even cured, by EMS. With EMS you stimulate your deep-seated muscle groups, often very difficult to target with conventional treatment, which will be activated and strengthened, therefore compensating for any imbalances. EMS also has a “relaxation effect” as different frequencies and parameters are used to promote recovery of the muscles.

EMS is successfully used for Rehabilitation Therapy after injury or an operation in order to develop and preserve the muscles. As EMS Training is gentle on joints, muscle development can be carried out soon after having an operation.

Studies from the University of Bayreuth, Germany proved that EMS combats back ailments very effectively. The deep muscles are engaged and stimulated, making EMS training methods time-saving, highly effective, and whole-body workouts that generate positive health effects, both therapeutic and preventive.

From the 49 people with back ailments who took part in the study:

  • 88.7% felt a reduction in back pain with significant relief in 38.8% of the cases.
  • Frequency and intensity of the back pain was greatly reduced during the training timeframe.
  • In 44% of the cases with chronic back pain, this ailment disappeared totally after training with EMS.

Improve Athletic Performance

Research Statistics from the University of Bayreuth, Germany and the German Sports University Cologne demonstrated that you can increase your sports performance by training with EMS:

  • Increased performance capacity was observed in 84% of participants.
  • Maximum strength was increased by 17% after only 4 training sessions.
  • Considerable increase in endurance was observed in 71% of participants.
  • After 12 sessions, strength-endurance training values rose by 108%.
  • In comparison to traditional weight training, EMS is 40% more intensive.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I do EMS Training in the long term?

Yes, you should work out regularly as with conventional training. Although you will see results much faster, EMS is also good for maintaining muscle strength.

  • Is EMS dangerous?

No. EMS uses low-frequency current stimulation which is not dangerous at all. Electric Muscle Stimulation is used for therapeutic purposes as well. The reason is that our muscles work constantly using electric impulses which initiate every movement. With EMS those impulses are reinforced by the electric impulse from outside.

  • Can everybody do EMS Training?

If you are healthy, there are no negative effects associated with EMS Training. In case you have any pre-existing conditions or acute sickness, you should abstain from training with EMS. You should also avoid EMS Training if you are pregnant, if you have acute febrile disease, or if you have a pacemaker. Furthermore if you are not allowed to do any heavy-load or extensive sports, you should avoid EMS Training.

  • When can I see results?

You will already feel vitalized after your first training session. After a few training sessions, your posture will improve. Depending on your current physical condition and nutritional behaviour, results are measurable and visible after four to six weeks of regular training, e.g., power increase, higher endurance & speed, toning. Our recommendation is 1 training session per week for the first 10 weeks. Afterwards another training session per week working on endurance can be added.

  • Can the elektric current harm my heart?

No. The low-frequency impulse only works on striated skeletal muscles, not organs like the heart.

  • Are there any side effects associated with EMS?

No. Referring to several studies, EMS has no negative side effects for healthy people. On the contrary, there are lots of benefits for promoting health, getting rid of back pain and strengthening your body. EMS has been used in physiotherapy for many years and therefore, handled under supervision, is totally safe.
